Danish Rock Star Just Married At Graceland!
Michael Poulsen, lead singer of the Danish rock band, Volbeat was married yesterday at Graceland. Michael and his new bride, Lena make a beautiful couple. In the fall of last year, Michael and his band, Volbeat toured the USA with Metallica. During that tour, Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield gave Michael the nickname, Little E because Michael is such a huge Elvis fan. Volbeat combines early rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and rockabilly in their sound. They are inspired by the rock 'n' roll legends Metallica, Social Distortion, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. They have released three studio albums and one DVD. All of their studio albums were certified gold in Denmark. Their second album Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil received platinum. Volbeat has sold certified gold in two countries, Denmark and Finland for now. Their band name is taken from the album Vol. Beat by Michael Poulsen's former band Dominus. "Vol" stands for volume while "Beat" stands for beat.
The Strength / The Sound / The Songs won the award for the best debut album at the Danish Metal Music Awards 2005.
Volbeat won the award Steppeulven for hope of the year 2006.
Volbeat won the award for the best live band at the Danish Metal Music Awards 2006 voted by fans.
Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil won the award for best album at the Danish Metal Music Awards 2007.
Volbeat won the Danish radio award for P3 listener hit at the P3 Guld-show voted by listeners of P3.
In 2006, Michael Poulsen was nominated in the categories Singer of the year and Composer of the year at the annual Steppeulven awards.
Two years later, he was nominated in the category Best singer at the Danish Music Awards.
