Sam Phillips Music Fest - Oct 16, 2010
The City of Florence and the Shoals area are proud to announce plans for the 5th Annual Sam Phillips Music Celebration honoring Florence native, and Sun Records Founder, Sam Phillips….”The Father of Rock and Roll.”
This year’s main event will take place October 16, 2010 in Downtown Florence. A two block area from Tennessee Street to Tombigbee Street will be closed and transformed into an outdoor street festival honoring Sam’s life and the music he created and influenced. Sam is the only person to ever be inducted in all of these prestigious
institutions…..The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The CountryMusic Hall of Fame, The Blues Hall of Fame, The Alabama Music Hall of Fame, The Rockabilly Hall of Fame, The Technical Excellence and Creativity Hall of Fame…and inducted in 2010 to the National Radio Hall of Fame.
Musical performances for the show will pay tribute to Sam’s induction into each of these prestigious institutions. Performers include Legendary Piano Man…Jason D. Williams, Legendary Blues Man…Theodis Ealey, Original Sun Recording Artists…Sonny Burgess and the Pacers, Fame Recording Artists…Dylan LeBlanc, James LeBlanc, Angela Hacker and Gary Nichols representing the Heart Beat of the Muscle Shoals Sound, and Adam Jones of The Levees…one of the most dynamic sounds on the music scene today.
The event’s gates will open at 5pm, with music running 6pm-11pm. Individual tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance or at the gate. VIP sponsorships and seats are available.
