With the 35th anniversary of Elvis Presley‘s death approaching, Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has scheduled a series of events next month celebrating the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Among the planned programs are Q&A sessions with musicians associated with Elvis and free screenings of movies focusing on the rock icon.

On August 11, several noted songwriters who penned tunes for Elvis, including Mac Davis, Jerry Chesut and Billy Swan, will take part in an event dubbed Songs Fit for a King: Top Songwriters Remember Elvis.

On the next day, the museum will show a special re-edited version of the 1970 documentary Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, which includes rehearsal and concert footage of Presley performing in Las Vegas.

On August 18, Chips Moman will participate in an interview at the museum’s Ford Theater. In addition to writing several country-soul classics, Moman produced such late Presley hits as “Suspicious Minds,” “Kentucky Rain” and “In the Ghetto.”

And lastly, on August 19, the museum will screen the 1987 documentary Elvis ’56, which focuses on the year that Presley emerged as a superstar.
