A letter penned by Elvis Presley has been put up for sale, and reveals how lonely the singer felt in the aftermath of his mother’s death.

The King, then aged 23, was doing his army national service in Germany when he penned the rare note home to friends in 1958 - saying 'I miss and love you all very much'.

It has been in the hands of a private Elvis collector from Hertfordshire for many years and he has now decided to sell it.

Experts said hand-written letters by Elvis are exceptionally rare and have described the content in this one as superb as it is very personal.

The auction takes place in Marbella, Spain, tomorrow. It is being sold by International Autograph Auctions.
